In the face of recent global economic uncertainties, encompassing the impacts of the pandemic, inflation, and geopolitical tensions, the pace of global economic recovery has slowed, posing numerous challenges to business operations. However, we firmly believe that challenges and opportunities coexist. Particularly against the backdrop of the burgeoning market for third-generation compound semiconductor applications, we see significant momentum driving our future growth. Our company remains committed to innovation as our core driving force, continuously strengthening our products and services, and striving to achieve our vision of sustainable development.
Operational Strategies for Sustainable Growth
While the company faces operational profitability pressures, we have never ceased our pursuit of new product development, continuously optimizing our process technologies, and enhancing product quality and yield. Simultaneously, we are actively implementing cost control measures, seeking collaborations with strategic investment companies to expand our customer base and enhance market competitiveness. We aim to mitigate investment losses, focus on improving operational efficiency, and achieve long-term stable profitability to generate greater value for our shareholders.
Environmental Sustainability Initiatives
We deeply understand the severe challenges posed by climate change. Therefore, we have implemented numerous energy-saving and carbon-reducing measures throughout our production processes. These include adopting high-efficiency energy-saving equipment to reduce electricity consumption during production, and actively promoting energy-saving and carbon-reduction policies among our employees. Furthermore, we have reduced the use of paper documents by implementing ERP systems and electronic mail, taking concrete actions to protect our planet's resources. Our operational entities comply with local regulations, statistically monitors and controls greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, and waste generation. We have also established waste disposal plans to ensure proper management and handling of process waste.
We diligently assess the potential risks posed by climate change and regularly convene senior management teams to identify significant climate-related risks and opportunities. We further analyze the impact of floods, droughts, typhoons, and high temperatures on our operating locations in Taiwan and the US, and develop response plans. For instance, we have prepared contingency plans to minimize losses in the event of floods potentially causing work stoppages and equipment damage. Regarding drought impacts on production water usage, we have initiated strategies such as inter-regional water transfer and demand reduction measures to minimize impacts on production.
Low-Carbon Transition and Green Innovation
To address the transition to a low-carbon economy, we are actively implementing energy-saving and carbon-reduction projects, including improving energy efficiency, investing in green energy equipment, and promoting the research and development of low-carbon products. Our company has established dedicated research and development teams and is seeking collaborations with external research institutions to develop low-carbon and plastic-reducing technologies. We are reconfiguring product components, adopting low-carbon footprint raw materials, and exploring green product markets. We also encourage our suppliers to adopt corresponding climate mitigation and adaptation actions to jointly build a green supply chain and achieve low-carbon development across the entire value chain.
Furthermore, we will set clear greenhouse gas emission reduction targets covering all aspects from production processes to supply chain management. Based on long-term objectives, we will regularly track indicators such as emission reductions, carbon footprint, and energy efficiency to ensure targets are met on schedule. We are also enhancing corporate governance by transparently disclosing our environmental performance and building a brand image that highly values climate issues, further enhancing our sustainable performance ratings.
